VAL VISTA LAKES, GILBERT ARIZONA'S AWARD WINNING COMMUNITY

VAL VISTA LAKES, GILBERT ARIZONA'S AWARD WINNING COMMUNITY

VAL VISTA LAKES, THE AWARD-WINNING GILBERT, ARIZONA COMMUNITY

This beautiful, self-contained community in Gilbert Arizona offers waterfront living, top class sports facilities, quiet family streets, lush greenery, mountain sunset views – whatever pace of life you’re looking for, you can find it at Val Vista Lakes; and the amenities of the wider Phoenix Metropolitan Area (otherwise known as the Valley of the Sun) are right on your doorstep.

Val Vista Lakes, A Gilbert Arizona Master Planned Community

Val Vista Lakes is a multi-generational Master Planned Community located in Gilbert Arizona that has something to offer everyone. There are many social clubs, community activities, special events, resident meetings, and plenty of recreational activities available.

The four lakes that give Val Vista Lakes its name are each approximately 16 acres in size and two of them are joined together with a pass through under Lakeside Drive, giving you the option of an hour’s gentle cruise on your electric-powered party boat, enjoying the sunlit waters and well-tended gardens as you pass by the beautiful waterfront homes with their classical architectural designs. (It’s worth noting that to prevent oil and gas spills from spoiling the lakes, no gasoline motors are allowed – the Val Vista Lakes residents like to look after their community).

The Sub-Communities of Val Vista Lakes

The larger Val Vista Lakes community is divided into twenty-four residential subdivisions, some with custom or semi-custom homes and seven of these are gated communities providing additional security and privacy. Five of the sub-communities have streets that offer both waterfront and non-waterfront homes but all have access to the wider community amenities and facilities, such as the Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse.

The Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse

The Val Vista Lakes waterfront Clubhouse is located on the north lake and is the heart of the community, serving as a meeting place and as the venue for many of the organized events and activities.

On the sports side, the Clubhouse boasts an eight-court championship tennis complex, fully lighted and with a pro shop, together with four indoor racquetball courts, a weight training gym, and a cardio room. A recent series of renovations has seen new equipment installed throughout.

Val Vista Lakes is a Swimming Paradise
If you like to be in the water then you’ll be spoiled for choice with the three swimming pools available here at Val Vista Lakes.  The Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse situated on the waterfront offers two options: either a junior Olympic pool complete with lanes and diving blocks or the more resort-style Sandy Lagoon Pool – a unique experience with a beach and waterfall, a nearby sand volleyball court and lighting for night swimming. What’s more, the Harbor sub-community has a further pool that is available to all Val Vista Lakes residents. Outside in Gilbert Arizona, you're in the middle of the Sonoran Desert, but inside Val Vista Lakes it’s like a green tropical oasis of water surrounded by trees and gardens.

At Val Vista Lakes Every Day is Spa Day
Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse is like a resort, and no resort would be complete without a soothing Spa in which to sit and relax; and there is a huge welcoming spa near the Jr. Olympic pool and overlooking the lake on the waterfront.

The Val Vista Lakes Man Made Mountain and Waterfalls
An indicator of the sheer imagination that has gone into creating the Val Vista Lakes experience is the unique man made mountain with its cascading waterfalls and the surrounding ponds stocked with colorful koi fish (in Japan, koi symbolize love and affection and this fits well with the warm friendliness of the Val Vista Lakes community here). Like all good mountains, this one can be climbed (an easy climb up a few stairs). After crossing the several bridges that span the streams feeding the waterfalls, at the top you find a gazebo where you can sit and relax and take in the beauty of the entire Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse grounds and the north lake.

BBQ Picnic Area at the Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse
Your Val Vista Lakes home will undoubtedly have a great BBQ area for a private family get together. However, for larger events or if you just want something a little different, then the Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse may have the perfect spot. The BBQ and picnic area is on the south side of the Clubhouse building near the tennis courts. The grassy area offers the ideal shady location for a summer party. Why not enjoy the warm weather in comfort in this partially secluded area where the rest of the Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse activity won’t intrude?

Fire Pit at the Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse
For a relaxed, informal summer or autumn evening, the Clubhouse provides a fire pit with a large seating area. Pleasantly close to the waterfront, just next to the boat dock, with a lake view, the area is available for residents to host an early evening social occasion – roast some marshmallows or just enjoy the company and conversation around the flames.

Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse Updating
Val Vista Lakes does not stand still and there are always improvements being made to the community. In addition to the above-mentioned updates to the Clubhouse facilities which included new carpeting throughout the 200-person capacity Banquet Room, the sandy beach lagoon pool was recently resurfaced and new lighting added. Typical of the VVL community, this was an opportunity to celebrate together and Michelle Haney, the Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse Recreation Manager, organized a Polar Bear Plunge with all proceeds going to the Val Vista Lakes elementary school.

Ice is seldom seen here in the Valley of the Sun but on this particular morning, Mother Nature honored the occasion’s arctic theme by freezing the rocks on the poolside waterfall. A number of VVL residents braved the freezing waters and were rewarded with hot chocolate and a dip in the open air spa afterwards. You can view the Val Vista Lakes Polar Bear Plunge video below.

A Local Elementary School
One highly practical community facility is the Val Vista Lakes Elementary School, located within the community itself and within easy walking distance of most homes here. The children love the school and the friendly, supportive learning environment. As an example, when a shy youngster arrived for his first day of school, having relocated from another state, he found the teacher had already chosen a couple of classmates who had volunteered to be his “buddy” and show him around and to make sure he had instant friends. The school is in turn, well-supported by the community, including through the Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse charity events (such as the Polar Bear Plunge) from which the proceeds are donated to the school. Other schools at high and junior high levels are nearby, either a short drive or a quick bus ride from Val Vista Lakes.

Val Vista Lakes at Holiday Season
The holiday season is very important here at Val Vista Lakes and is a big community event. The mountain area is typically decorated with over three-quarters of a million Christmas lights and is a major local tourist attraction. To help cover the cost of this showpiece, on certain evenings, everyone is invited to enjoy the spectacle and community volunteers sell hot chocolate, mulled cider and cookies. While there is no admission fee, visitors are requested to bring a can of food or something similar as a donation to a local food bank charity. Naturally, Christmas wouldn’t be the same without Santa Claus and he does find time in his busy seasonal schedule to visit the mountain-top gazebo where he meets the children and they can give him their Christmas wish lists.

The Popular Val Vista Lakes Christmas Lighted Boat Parade

Christmas is the time for what is arguably the community’s biggest event: the Val Vista lakes lighted boat parade. Residents in waterfront homes tend to have their own boats and they spend a lot of time and money decorating them so as to participate in the waterborne parade (of course, the contest for the best decorated boat is a big incentive!). However, you don’t need a boat to participate. Many residents have a party at their waterfront home and invite neighbors and friends to get together for a social evening and watch the parade. On the other hand, anybody not at a waterfront party (or in the parade itself) can watch from the Clubhouse grounds or from one of the many other park locations throughout the community on the north and south lake.

Boat Cruises

You certainly don’t have to wait until Christmas to have fun on the water in Val Vista Lakes. Even if you live on the waterfront and can take out your own boat any time you want, for a big family and friends occasion, why not schedule yourself and your guests for a tour of the lakes, viewing the magnificent waterfront homes from the Clubhouse 10-person boat, furnished with a boat driver, and leaving from the Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse dock and cruising around the north and south lakes? Of course, you don’t have to share… if it’s a date night, what could be more impressive than bringing some early evening snacks and beverage and let the experienced boat driver take you on this most romantic cruise.

The Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse Boat Dock
Of course, the dock at the Clubhouse isn’t just a mooring for the Clubhouse’s own boat. If you have a waterfront home in Val Vista Lakes and keep your own boat then why not hop aboard and cruise down to the Clubhouse instead of walking or driving? It’s a much more relaxing and peaceful way to travel and you can simply tie up at the dock and enjoy your day or evening of fun.

The Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse is A Place to Celebrate Anything

For residents and non-residents alike, the Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse offers the ideal venue for a celebration. The banquet and ballrooms are used for wedding receptions, baby showers, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, birthdays, reunions and anniversaries. The Tuscan-themed ballrooms offer a touch of luxury with their warm wood and Italian marble tile décor and views of the lake. Combine this with the option of taking your party outdoors into the beautiful Val Vista Lakes landscape (how about a beach wedding next to the waterfall?) and it really is the perfect location for any event, accommodating any number of guests, from ten to two hundred.

Weddings at Val Vista Lakes
When it’s one of the most important days of your life, you want everything to be just perfect and the Clubhouse offers not only beautiful surroundings but also practicality. The upstairs dressing room is provided for the bride and bridesmaids and then, when it’s time for the big moment, the bride sweeps down the impressive staircase, joins her father, or person who is “giving her away”, and is escorted outside to the gorgeous Grassy Oval where the ceremony takes place by the waterfront on the north lake.

The Lakeside Grassy Oval for a Val Vista Lakes Wedding Ceremony

The 75 ft by 60 ft lush green Grassy Oval is the absolutely perfect spot for a wedding ceremony. The bride is escorted down the aisle between up to 200 guests seated on beautiful white chairs to the wedding arch. Here, the bride and groom are joined together at the base of the Val Vista Lakes mountain, overlooking the lake, the sandy lagoon pool and the waterfalls – a truly romantic spot for a truly romantic moment.

Queen Palm Gazebo and Patio at the Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse

When the ceremony is over, the newlyweds can mingle with their guests and enjoy cocktails in the 128 ft by 40 ft Queen Palm Gazebo and patio overlooking the north and largest of the Val Vista Lakes. The large circular bar is ideal for serving hors d’oeuvres and drinks while providing an informal setting for guests to offer their congratulations before the reception dinner while admiring the fantastic lakeside views.

Val Vista Lakes Banquet Room

Finally, when it’s time for the reception, the guests are ushered to the newly refurbished banquet room for a sit down dinner. The large stage is provided for the wedding band (and in fact, it comfortably accommodates the 20-piece band that plays each year for the community swing dance event). The banquet room also has a baby grand piano. Naturally, weddings are far from the only events that take place at the Clubhouse and the banquet room and outdoor facilities are used for all types of parties and corporate functions.

The Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse Meeting Rooms

For events of a less romantic nature, the Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse holds the perfect facilities for any corporate or business occasion. If you’re a resident here, you can invite colleagues to share your enjoyment of the Val Vista Lakes environment safe in the knowledge that they’ll be well looked after. The main room is the 200-person capacity banquet room, complete with large stage; and breakout rooms are provided on two levels, including the Board Room and the West Wing. For those events where you need to bring your own catering service, two full service kitchens are available. However casual or formal the event, the attendees will appreciate the smart Tuscan styling of the accommodation and the incredible views outside, especially if they choose to use the beach or waterfall as their breakout room!

The Val Vista Lakes Board Room

The board room is upstairs in the Clubhouse and is perfect both as a breakout room for a larger conference-style event or as a venue in its own right. It is a formal executive type meeting room with comfortable luxury chairs and a large board table. The big advantage is that it is located away from the Clubhouse ‘traffic’ and is very private – a highly valuable quality for sensitive corporate discussions.

The West Wing at Val Vista Lakes
The wonderfully-named West Wing offers a more compact venue for meetings and private parties in the Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse. However, smaller definitely does not mean lesser; the West Wing has a stunning close up view of the man made mountain and the waterfalls, plus the sandy lagoon pool and the north lake making this in some ways the most scenic accommodation on offer. The West Wing also has its own full service kitchen for all your catering needs and an adjoining smaller meeting room can be opened up to accommodate a larger party or provide a breakout room.

Val Vista Lakes Open House Day

The Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse Banquet Manager, Janet Marhover, hosts an open house day several times a year. This gives both visitors and residents the chance to view the facilities and decide how it might meet their family, social or business needs. Included in the open house days is an opportunity to meet with the preferred vendors who are on hand to discuss or demonstrate their services. One thing you can count on at an open house day is that there will be a caterer to tempt you with free samples of their wares and also a complimentary boat cruise around the lakes. (For a personal tour, you can reach the Banquet Manager on 480-926-9694).

Val Vista Lakes Videos

The Polar Bear Plunge was produced by Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse Recreation Manager, Michelle Haney. The purpose was to celebrate the completion of the Sandy Lagoon Pool resurfacing and LED Light additions. It was also a fund raiser for the Val Vista Lakes Elementary School.

This video shows the Val Vista Lakes unique Sandy Lagoon Pool sitting just below the beautiful man made mountain with it's cascading waterfalls. During this shoot, I spotted one of our local female Mallards resting atop one of the waterfall areas, and a yellow Coi getting a waterfall massage at the bottom of one of the waterfalls. The grassy oval at the base of the mountain has been set up for an afternoon wedding ceremony. The Val Vista Lakes Clubhouse on the Waterfront is one of the premier wedding locations in Gilbert and the entire Phoenix Metropolitan Area.

Val Vista Lakes is upgrading the entire clubhouse and community. HOA President, Ron Norwood introduces the first of the updates. The Val Vista Lakes Water Features are located on both the Southeast and Southwest corners of Val Vista Drive and Baseline as you enter the Val Vista Lakes community.

It's obvious by the tree lined streets that one has entered into a beautiful green oasis in the middle of the Sonoran Desert. All of the homes within Val Vista lakes must have grass in the front yards, and trees. That makes Val Vista Lakes a cool, refreshing and inviting community so one is not reminded that we're living in the middle of a huge desert.

This is the beginning of construction of a Rose Garden in the Val Vista Lakes greenbelt area. Lynn Twitchell is a resident rose expert and is working on the project with other volunteers that include the scouts assisting in this Eagle Scout project.

The Val Vista Lakes Rose Garden is located on the north side of Lakeside Dr in the Greenbelt where many residents take their daily walks. When completed, the Rose Garden will have benches where you can sit and relax for a few minutes while enjoying the beautiful and well cared for roses.

Each January, Val Vista Lakes produces the Dancing Under the Stars event. Residents of all ages attend this big band dance which has featured the Sonoran Swing Big Band for several years. This dance has the positive result of keeping big band swing music alive, and introduces to our younger residents this American cultural music that was borne in the south in the early 1900's, and came to national popularity in the 1940's.

Val Vista Lakes celebrated it's 25th Anniversary in September 2010. Crystal Shores resident Diane Chambers and a host of volunteers developed an important historical display of events, school and community organizations spanning the 25 years. It was displayed in the West Wing of the Val Vista Lakes clubhouse so all the residents could have a chance to see the history of this great community.

Val Vista Lakes held it's annual Fitness Challenge event on Feb 19, 2011, which consists of a 5k Run, Walk, Bike, Blade throughout the community. There were approximately 100 community participants, plus dozens of volunteers and clubhouse staff taking part in the event..

The event was produced by Clubhouse Recreation Manager, Michelle Haney.
